Teaching Artist, TERI RALSTON
Accompanist, DAN FURMAN
Teri Ralston (Credits: the original casts of Sondheim’s COMPANY and A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC and Stephen Schwartz’s BAKERS WIFE) will help you prepare for the audition, get the job, and work on all aspects of performance. This includes, choosing the right material, picking the best 16 bar cuts, knowing how to walk into a room, dealing with nerves, what to wear, practice interviews, cold readings, head shots, and whatever challenges you about an audition.
Teri will break down a song so you really know what you’re singing about, why your singing it, and how to best communicate and connect with the song personally and emotionally. She will also work with you on the technique of performance so you know how to repeat and sustain the good things you find, and how to make choices.
NOTE: There is a showcase in the final class of the session. Video of this showcase will be available to students.
Teri says, “I like working with all levels of experience. We all learn from each other. I think the work process should be fun and that singing is one of our great joys.”
